Reliable MFR testing at the lowest cost

The KAYJAY/2005/CE is the entry point to the MFI range: a Method A instrument that measures Melt Flow Rate by cutting and weighing the extrudate manually. With an auto-tuned PID controller holding temperature to ±0.1 °C, it delivers reliable, standard-compliant results for labs that don't need automation.

It suits small-to-medium polymer processors, recyclers and QC labs testing up to 50 g/10 min. Manufactured in Mumbai, CE marked and supplied with a calibration certificate; buyers can step up to the Auto-Cut or Computerized models as testing volume grows.

How the test works

Step by step

  1. Set temperature & loadSelect the ASTM/ISO test temperature and standard weight for your polymer and let the barrel stabilise.
  2. Charge the barrelLoad the pre-weighed polymer, compact it and preheat for the specified time.
  3. Apply the weightPlace the load; the molten polymer extrudes through the standard orifice.
  4. Cut & measureMethod A — cut the extrudate at fixed intervals and weigh each cut. Method B — a displacement sensor tracks piston travel for MVR & melt density.
  5. Calculate the resultMFR (g/10 min), MVR (cc/10 min) and melt density are computed, and on computerized models stored, averaged and reported.
